BIRDSONG
The quiet, lonely, stuck-in-the-past monotony of Bird's daily life of captivity is interrupted when her apartment, which magically provides for her every need but bars her from the outside world, decides to open its door for the first time in decades to the loud, fast-living, exotic new woman nextdoor.
Desirous of life and love but fearful of the apartment's motives, Bird fights against the apartment's plan but ultimately has to accept that in order to be free, she must fall in love and then leave her love behind to be the new victim of the apartment. All the while, an old man looks up at Bird's window day in and day out: the past love who left her, trapped in time, all those years ago. Birdsong is a haunting, visually stunning exploration of love, captivity, and the cost of freedom.
